We are very fortunate to have MICHAEL WRIGHT. Executive Vice President / Head of Programming for TBS, TNT & TCM as our April Luncheon Guest Speaker.
Wright oversees all programming for TNT and TBS and original programming on TCM. For TNT, this includes such high-profile projects as The Closer, Saving Grace, Leverage, HawthoRNe, Dark Blue and Men of a Certain Age. TNT is also working on three original series: an alien-invasion series from DreamWorks Television and Steven Spielberg, starring Noah Wyle; Memphis Beat, an offbeat series starring Jason Lee and Alfre Woodard, produced for TNT by George Clooney and Grant Heslov; and Rizzoli & Isles, a crime drama starring Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander, based on Tess Gerritsen's popular mystery novels, produced for TNT by Warner Horizon Television and Ostar Productions.
For TBS, Wright has overseen projects that include the late-night series Lopez Tonight and the critically acclaimed My Boys. Soon, youll see TBSs first foray into primetime animation, Neighbors from Hell.
For TCM, Wright has overseen the development of production of the new Night at the Movies series of specials, and the upcoming Moguls and Movie Stars, a seven part documentary on the history of Hollywood.
Previously, Wright has been involved in a number of key projects for TNT, including Steven Spielberg and DreamWorks Television for the 16-time Emmy-nominated production of Into the West. Wright also worked with Oscar nominee Ridley Scott for the award-winning Cold War CIA epic The Company; with blockbuster filmmaker Dean Devlin for the highly successful movie series The Librarian; and with Matthew Perry in the title role of The Ron Clark Story. Other successful original programming on TNT under Wrights supervision included the TV movie Door to Door, which was honored a Peabody Award and six Emmys; the critically acclaimed Nightmares & Dreamscapes: From the Stories of Stephen King; and the miniseries Salems Lot.
Prior to joining Turner, Wright served as vice president of movies and miniseries for CBS Productions and CBS Entertainment. While there, he supervised production of some of CBS's highest rated television movies, including The Long Way Home, The Marriage Fool, the Peabody Award-winning Sharing the Secret and the live, Emmy-nominated production of On Golden Pond, with Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer.
Wright is a member of the American Film Institute Board of Trustees and serves as secretary for the Hollywood Radio & Television Society Board of Trustees. He holds a bachelors degree in theater arts from UCLAs College of Fine Arts.
This promises to be a very informative program, one you won't want to miss!
