JACKIE LEE HOUSTON
Palm Springs Women in Film & Television is saddened by the passing of our Platinum Member, Jackie Lee Houston.
She was our friend and an inspiration to us all. The Jackie Lee Houston Humanitarian Award given each year at our Broken Glass Awards will continue, shining a light on her love of community and the arts.
Sherry Halperin, President, PSWIFT
Local business woman, humanitarian and philanthropist, Jackie Lee Houston was the owner of CBS affiliate KPSP television in Thousand Palms, one of only two women in the nation to own a television station.
While always a champion of local causes, Ms. Houston was born in Seattle, lived, worked and raised her family in Vancouver, BC, due to the Houston business ventures. When she and her husband Jim became full-time residents in Palm Springs, she continued her hands-on contributions to public and community service, taking her responsibility as a full-time job.
Ms. Houston has been honored with countless awards and accolades which are too many to list here. Her generosity, compassion and positive attitude is her legacy and will continue to benefit our community.
