began her career in fiction with the novel "First Born" before transitioning into screenwriting with "Edward Scissorhands" directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp in his first major role. She also shares with us how she contributed to the screenplay for the classic animated feature film "The Nightmare Before Christmas" which was produced by Tim Burton. We focus on her transition from screenwriting to directing with her debut feature "Black Beauty". Also, her latest project "The Little Mermaid" which she has been developing with director Sofia Coppola. Caroline Thompson's other writing credits include "Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey", "The Addams Family", "The Secret Garden", "City of Ember", and "Corpse Bride". Her other directing credits include "Buddy" and "Snow White: The Fairest of Them All" for Hallmark and ABC television.
